Large Advent Speaker Serial Numbers

The S1000DB powered speakers were a wonderful surprise in quality of construction, appearance, and performance that was far above what I expected. While I am not an audio engineer, I am an electronics engineer and an audiophile with enough experience to know that the better specifications of the S1000DB warranted the modest increase in price; and, after experiencing the surprising performance of these speakers, I have no regrets at all about my decision. The diverse array of bluetooth, phono, optical and coaxial inputs are easily selected by the little remote control unit and allowed me to easily integrate the speakers with my TV, DVD player, PC, and cellphone. Some negative comments suggest that losing the remote control is a disaster for switching inputs, but that must only be true for the chronically lazy because pushing inward on the powered unit's volume control knob steps though all the inputs just. For a little background this is the first Amazon review I've ever left, these blew me away that much. I just graduated high school and was looking for some higher end speakers at a price point I could afford making just a bit more than min wage. I took a chance on a brand I've never heard of and these did not dissapoint.

First, they look great. I took off the covers because I personally like the way they look without them. The sound quality is amazing, the adjustable treble and bass are a big plus. They provide an RCA to RCA cable, an RCA to Aux cable, an Optical cable, as well as being bluetooth compatible. The chords themselves are all Edifier brand and work very well. The only complaint I have (if you can call it a complaint) is just being slightly annoyed with bluetooth capabilities.

I've had these speakers for a couple of years now. They are surprisingly well-amplified and good sounding. Each speaker accepts eight (8) C batteries, which give it enough power to be quite loud. The batteries also last quite a while. Each speaker also has a hefty power supply, which is NOT a 'wall wart' (yay)! The black box is in the middle of the power cable.

Advent didn't wimp out on the power. The utility of these wireless speakers is great. You can take them anywhere you are, and hear the stereo. Range is about 100ft or more, and less through walls (even less through brick).A switch on each speaker allows it to play the left channel, the right channel, or monaural (a mix of left and right). This makes it possible for you to use the speakers in stereo pairs,. Better than expected!

I did a lot of research specifically for Bluetooth, powered, bookshelf speakers with subwoofer out. After a month of looking at the few that the internet had to offer, I definitely chose the write ones.

The Edifier R1850DB is EXACTLY what I wanted. The sound, especially when paired with a 10' sub, is absolutely superb. Even without the sub, these speakers cover the sound range very nicely, crisp highs, good midrange, and nice bass. Nice controls in the back of the active speaker, perfect bluetooth connection to my new 4k Samsung TV. Supplied optical cable in case I decide to go that route.

The only small criticism would be that the bluetooth doesn't automatically reconnect the speakers when the TV is powered on. I can live with that.

Highly recommended.PS. Don't be discouraged. These are incredible bookshelf speakers. My original intent was to set these up as computer speakers but they may make their way into the living room. High's are crisp, mid's are clear, low's are tight. I'm not an audiophile but I do play music and I can discern poor sound quality.

Large Advent Speakers

I haven't heard any distortion or loss of sound on anything I have listened to so far (metal to classical). All the reviews you read online say these are excellent speakers for the price. They punch above their weight compared with other brands like Bose and Polk. There are no mistakes to be made paying $300 for these beauties.
